Social Justice

Social Justice is an integral part of school life at St. Augustine.  Students practice values of empathy, kindness, gratitude, and caring for others.  Social Justice work fills our hearts, as we are proud to give from our hearts and hands.

In 2022 we chose The Mustard Seed Church as our partner in social justice work.  Here are some of the social justice projects with this community partner:

  • Staff Social Justice Project: backpacks for the Mustard Seed clients, filled with toiletries and water
  • Staff Volunteer Hours
  • Hats, Scarves and Mitts Drive: to help keep clients warm during the winter months
  • Valentines Cards: each grade made a valentine for clients and attached a chocolate treat, to let them know we are thinking of them

Other Social Justice Projects this year:

  • Annual Terry Fox Run: raising funds for cancer research
  • Orange Shirt Day: we recognize the  impact of residential schools in Canada and promote Truth and Reconciliation calls to action
  • Christmas Hampers: students and staff bring in food and gift donations to support St. Augustine families in need at Christmas
  • Bottle Drive: raising funds for Edmonton Catholic Schools Foundation to support students and families in need
  • Random Acts of Kindness Week: celebrating how we are the "I in KIND" every day
  • Pink Shirt Day: building on Kindness Week, we wear pink shirts to advocate for a safe space for all
  • During Random Acts of Kindness Week we celebrated how we are the I in KIND every day.
